Lancelot was my stylist and the whole experience was phenomenal. From the hair washing with soothing essential oils and hand massage, I felt relaxed and happy the whole time! I get nervous and have sensitive skin and sensory issues, so having a compassionate touch and sensitive products is so important to me. I was glad to get a beautiful haircut at Aveda!
Zero Review. NOT FOR SENIORS on a fixed budget. This place charges $40 for haircut/wash, forces product on you & did not tell my mother how much the haircut would be when she scheduled the appointment. This is outrageous! If my mother was told the price when she called to schedule, she would have hung up. They have drastically raised their rates. Go to Baldwin Beauty School for reasonable rates!
My daughter had a really great experience here. She has very long hair and wanted a full set of highlights. Lynnora did a beautiful job but since we pushed it until closing, we didn't get to see what it looked like blow-dried. There were a couple of spots that needed a tweak and we were invited back in, this time with Chloe. She finished the job out and my daughter is so happy. Everyone was very professional and accommodating. We'll be back.
It pains me to write this review. I'll preface it by saying I've been to the Aveda hair school for cut/ color a few times and left happy. I ended up back at Aveda after another professional hair dresser ruined my hair and left a line of Bleach demarcation during a balayage session. I figured the students at Aveda would be able to blend out that small section. I WAS WRONG. the student tried to but I don't think she was given very good guidance , the teacher didn't give her hair painting points or how to do teasy lights or roots smudge to blend it out l. She made the line worse and tried to play it off by saying it was how my hair was laying. The teacher saw it was worse & then hand painted the highlights himself but it was so blotchy. He kept discouraging the student from toning my hair and finally when he saw that even his work was uneven they toned my hair. They did offer a service guarantee and apologize but at this point .....I have no confidence in the students or teachers after my 7hr ordeal for which I will have to seek out a 3rd hairstylist to fix my hair :(
From further discussions with students there it seems Aveda is over loading their teachers with to many students and this has lead to less one on one instruction time and quality teachers leaving.
** edit - even though I wrote Aveda as requested in response to this review, they never called me or offered any discount.
Worst place ever for hair. I had my hair balayage last week. I told her please no ORANGE at all! And my hair was just orange after she finished!! I had to come back another week to change it. And I had to pay for it again. I wanted to cool ash hair! Which means no ORANGE ! And here again my hair is orange, and no close to cool ash! At least the teacher can help students. All they says ‘ohhhh looks good’! But it is not what I wanted !!!!!!
Took close to 8 hours to get my color and cut. The instructor did nothing to help out. Coloring was bad but honestly after sitting there for the whole day, I decided to cut my losses.
With my manicure appointment, I had the worst experience ever. So, my service provider (student) was not even aware of what she is putting on my hands. I asked her as to about the cream she applied and she said she was just told to apply it without any information about it. She used a small cotton piece to remove my previous nail color that she really struggled with. Then, she herself said that she hates doing manicures and pedicures. Also, mentioning the fact that she cannot even paint nails evenly. I understand she is a student and everyone has a learning curve, but seriously girl what are you doing. When coming to filing my nail, she did give me a choice as to if I want them round or square shaped and I gave her all the privilege as to she can do whatever she is comfortable with. She chose rounded nails and God my God, they were completely out of shape. My nails edges were ragged and jagged, square on one side and circular on other. Then the base coat was all dry, stringy and sticky that she couldn't apply without a blob. I asked her about the bumps and she said she will cover it with multiple coats of nail paint. And by the way, on the "vegan"nail color they use, my service giver said that it comes of very easily and doesn't last even 2 days to save its life. And by the way, they don't even cut nails, so all it was applying a cream, immersing your hand in cold water, applying some sort of salt made scrub and washing your hands in the restroom. My next turn was for a pedicure, and I asked the student as to if it would be the same and she said yes and I fled to the reception. The reception was even worse. Barely heard as to what I had to say, charged me my manicure fee and I repented my stupid decision of coming to Aveda for manicure. $15 down the drain and I ran feeling wise that I didn't spend more for my pedicure.
I went in earlier this week for hair color to cover my grays and Daniela took care of me. She was knowledgeable and made me feel very comfortable.
